Paraeducator Assistant I

  • Adapts classroom activities, assignments, and/or materials under the direction of the EL teacher and/or EL Facilitator.
  • Assists students, individually or in small groups with lesson assignments.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding all aspects of his/her work with children, staff members, and all aspects of his/her work.
  • Monitors current and/or former EL student progress toward language/content objectives.
  • Collaborate with instructional staff.
  • Models English communication.
  • Promotes EL students' self-esteem.
  • Maintains a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Attends required meetings and in-service presentations.

Qualifications

  • Completion of 48 semester or 60 quarter units from an accredited college/university (preferably in child development, education, special education, or related field).
  • One year of relevant experience.
  • High school diploma and two years of experience as a Paraeducator aide or in a similar instructional/guidance role.

Grade 17
Salaries are subject to adjustment and may increase and decrease each fiscal year. New employees hired by Washoe County School District are normally placed on the entry step of the grade of the position.

Additional Job Information

This position is for the 2026/27 school year with an anticipated start date after August 1, 2026. Benefit packages are available for all employees, eligible employees who are regularly scheduled to work 27.5 hours per week or more receive full benefits of the District which include but are not limited to:
