FL Technics, in partnership with strategic allies, is investing over USD 70 million to establish the first independent MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) aeronautical facility in the Punta Cana Free Trade Zone (PCFTZ). This initiative leverages the strategic location of Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) in the Dominican Republic to address rising MRO costs and supply chain challenges in the aviation industry.

The global MRO market reached USD 114 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow to USD 156 billion by 2035, driven by increasing passenger traffic and aircraft demand. However, the sector faces rising labor costs (up 7.2% in 2023 and 5.8% in 2024), material costs (up 6.5%), and persistent supply chain disruptions. Free Trade Zones offer a competitive solution by reducing MRO costs by 10–15% through duty-free operations, tax incentives, and streamlined logistics.

Why Punta Cana?

The Punta Cana Free Trade Zone (PCFTZ) provides a strategic advantage due to its proximity to key markets—just 90 minutes from Miami and three hours from other major U.S. hubs. The facility will serve as a regional MRO center, supported by modern infrastructure, advanced technology, and compliance with FAA and other international aviation regulations.

The project aligns with the Dominican Republic’s vision to become a logistics and aviation hub, integrating tourism, cargo, and MRO services. The PCFTZ spans 742,160 m² and has already generated thousands of jobs, positioning the country as a leader in trade and foreign investment.
