About the Role
The EL/Bilingual Resource Teacher provides instruction to help potentially English proficient (PEP) students develop cognitive, academic, and language abilities in Spanish and English. The teacher delivers pull-out and push-in services to small groups of students in grades K-8.
Responsibilities
- Identify and assess the academic level, language proficiency level, cultural history, and linguistic history of students eligible for bilingual services.
- Provide bilingual instruction to small groups of K-8 students using a collaborative Transitional Bilingual Education (TBE) model (pull-out or push-in services based on student need).
- Collaborate with the EL Department to ensure best practices in service delivery.
- Make recommendations for optimal placement within the Transitional Bilingual Program (full-time or part-time).
Requirements
Must meet ONE of the following ISBE requirements for a bilingual educator:
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with bilingual education endorsement in Spanish.
- Educator License with Stipulations (ELS-VIT) with a passing score on the English proficiency test.
- ELS-TBE with bilingual education endorsement in Spanish.
- Short Term Approval (PEL with 9 hours of coursework in bilingual education or a passing score on the Spanish language proficiency test).

Pay
$50,000–80,000 dependent on qualifications.
