Join our healthcare team as an EKG Technician! We are seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to perform non-invasive cardiac EKG diagnostic tests for both inpatient and outpatient settings. You will handle test data quality, assist physicians in accurate testing, and collaborate with allied medical professionals across Intermountain Healthcare facilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform exams per department protocol and demonstrate EKG competency.
- Complete studies within accepted time limits without compromising patient care or exam quality.
- Complete orders and charge entry accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain proficiency with department equipment, perform routine maintenance, and report any functional issues.
- Respond immediately to facility calls as appropriate.
- Notify physician of critical values identified during testing, following Critical Value Policy.
- Ensure proper patient identification using two identifiers and review patient charts to confirm procedure orders.
- Provide patient education and ensure patient comfort.
- Administer all tests within the EKG Lab, including Holter monitors, ambulatory telemetry/event monitors, blood pressure monitors, stress testing, and EKGs.
- Provide technical assistance and monitoring for all exercise treadmill studies as required by the facility.
- Maintain records and logs required by the department, The Joint Commission, and other accrediting entities.

Qualifications
- Current BLS certification for healthcare providers (required).
- Must complete and pass the Intermountain Healthcare EKG course and associated skills within four months of hire (or take the first class offered after hire date).
- Prior patient care or customer service experience (preferred).
- Prior EKG technical or interpretation experience (preferred).
Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment.
- Frequent verbal communication with providers, patients, and visitors, including hearing and understanding spoken information quickly, especially during emergencies.
- Manual dexterity for precise operation of complex and delicate equipment, including frequent computer use and typing.
- Ability to lift and move patients, bend, retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, including heavy items.
- Walking and assisting with patient transport, pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, often in crowded or busy rooms.
- May be required to stand in a stationary position for extended periods.
- For roles requiring driving: ability to drive a vehicle, including sitting, seeing, and reading signs and traffic signals.
Pay
Entry rate: $18.40 per hour.
Location: Intermountain Health St George Regional Hospital, St George, Utah.
