About the Role
Responsible for providing constant surveillance and identification of cardiac rhythms for patients on remote monitoring. Responsibilities
- Identifies and documents cardiac rhythms.
- Provides patient and family education.
- Performs electrode site care.
- Ensures proper functioning of all monitoring equipment and promotes cost effectiveness through appropriate utilization of equipment and supplies.
- Conducts ongoing training and review of patient monitors.
- Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required).
- EKG monitoring experience (0-1 years preferred).
- Heartsaver certification from the American Heart Association (Required).
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to read, write, and understand verbal or written instructions.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in interactions.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and routine hospital operations.
- Ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Physical Demands
- Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
- Exposure to patient body fluids, hazardous or poisonous materials, and high levels of noise.
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
- Physical activities include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- Medium work: exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
- Close visual acuity required, including color, depth perception, and field of vision for activities such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, or extensive reading.
