About the role

The Workforce and Professional Education Department at Ocean County College (OCC) is a recognized leader in healthcare education and career training. We prepare individuals to thrive in today’s dynamic healthcare industry by providing high-quality, hands-on learning experiences. We are seeking an experienced and engaging Adjunct EKG Technician Instructor to teach in-person at our Manahawkin, NJ campus.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging instruction in both classroom and laboratory settings, following established EKG curriculum and course objectives.
  • Teach key concepts including cardiac anatomy and physiology, EKG interpretation, and patient care procedures.
  • Evaluate and track student performance through exams, practical assessments, and assignments, providing constructive feedback to support student learning.
  • Prepare lesson plans and lead interactive lectures and lab sessions.
  • Review course syllabi and expectations at the start of each term.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and student records.
  • Ensure classroom and lab safety, monitoring students’ adherence to safety protocols.
  • Prepare students for NHA national certification (CPT) examinations.
  • Maintain professionalism and promote a positive, engaging learning environment.
  • Provide academic support, tutoring, and individualized assistance as needed.
  • Assist with inventory, maintenance, and ordering of instructional supplies and equipment.
  • Stay current with industry trends, certification updates, and instructional best practices.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Certified EKG Technician (CET) or related professional credential.
  • Self-Help & Motivational: Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience in EKG or cardiovascular technology.
  • Proficiency in standard office and instructional software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated passion for teaching and student success in healthcare education.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications: Associate’s degree or higher in a healthcare-related field.
  • Preferred qualifications: At least one year of instructional experience in an educational or clinical training setting, previous experience as a supervisor or instructor in a medical facility, and an Instructional Duration of semester-based appointment.

Benefits

Competitive pay rate of $458 per Continuing Education Unit (CEU), depending on the number of assigned CEUs; one CEU equals 10 instructional hours.
