About the role
GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an EIT 2 to work with the Power Generation Business Sector on primarily Power Generation projects and, when needed, other regional projects. The successful candidate will be based in the Louisville, KY office and will perform both design and monitoring tasks under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer. GAI offers the flexibility to work remotely or in a hybrid setting.
The candidate should have the desire and ability to travel to project sites, primarily in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States.
Responsibilities
- Site Grading Plans
- Erosion and Sediment Control Plans
- Stormwater Management Plans
- Hydrologic and Hydraulic / Drainage Plans
- Utility Design and Relocation Plans
- Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Plans
- Geotechnical Investigations
- Permit Applications (earth disturbance permits, building permits, land development plans, high occupancy permits, etc.)
- Access Road Section Development
- Construction Drawings, Specifications, and Quality Control Plans
- Construction Cost Estimates
- Owner's Engineer Support During Construction
- Field Investigations
- Daily/Weekly Construction Inspections
- Earthwork Construction Quality Control
- Compaction Testing
- Concrete Testing
- ESC Inspections
- SWPPP Inspections
- Environmental Monitoring
- Performs basic design tasks
- Assists on tasks such as: field activities, material testing, CADD work, permit applications, and report writing
- Responsible for personal task management and adherence to deadlines and scope
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Engineering
- Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and obtained engineer-in-training (EIT) or engineering-intern (EI) certification
- 2+ years of experience
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work indoors in professional office settings
- Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based tasks
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling office equipment
- Visual acuity to read printed materials, digital screens, detailed documents, and perform detailed work
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching within the office environment
- Ability to move between workstations and attend in-person meetings
- Ability to lift and carry office materials or equipment weighing up to 10-20 pounds, with or without assistance
- Adequate hearing to participate in conversations, phone calls, and virtual meetings
- Ability to travel for meetings, training, or business purposes
