Designs, develops, implements and oversees the organization's environmental, health and safety programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities and to ensure that all facilities are in compliance with regulations.
- Outlines and implements policies or programs to educate and promote employee health and safety or environmental compliance.
- Delivers training programs educating staff on environmental concerns or health and safety risks found in the organization.
- Communicates regularly with management and administration regarding the status of environmental initiatives.
- Ensures that training records, health/safety manuals or handbooks, incident/accident reports, or other documentation are appropriately maintained.
- Tracks and documents accidents to understand causes and recommend changes to prevent future accidents.
- Maintains awareness of known health, safety, or environmental hazards, such as noise, air, or wastewater pollution levels.
- Coordinates inspection of facilities, vehicles, or equipment and processes recommendations for corrections or additional precautions to ensure compliance to established regulations.
- Communicates facility-specific emergency response or evacuation plans.
- Has a broad and current knowledge of all government and applicable industry safety regulations.
Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 2-4 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree
Discipline/Major: Environmental Health and Safety or related discipline preferred
Knowledge, skills & abilities: Safety best practices. Safety communications. Safety inspections. Safety investigations. Safety policies and procedures. Safety training. Inspection documentation.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
Up to 25% travel likely.
