About the role
Provides support to all functions of the company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) systems and programs, with a primary focus on environmental permitting and regulatory compliance. Serves as the principal in-plant compliance and permitting specialist, ensuring all site operations adhere to federal, state, and local regulations.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the site lead for environmental permitting, including air, water, and waste permits.
- Maintain and ensure compliance with all applicable permits (e.g., wastewater discharge, stormwater, air emissions).
- Prepare, submit, and manage required regulatory reports (e.g., DMRs, TRI, Tier II, hazardous waste reports).
- Interface with regulatory agencies (EPA, state DEP, local authorities) during inspections, audits, and communications.
- Track regulatory changes and proactively assess impact to the facility; develop and implement compliance strategies.
- Support permit renewals, modifications, and applications, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Maintain documentation and records required to demonstrate full regulatory compliance.
- RCRA compliance, including hazardous waste handling, storage, tracking, and disposal.
- Auxiliary internal audits for regulatory, ISO (14001/45001), and company standards; identify gaps and drive corrective actions.
- Maintain a consistent presence on the manufacturing floor, especially in high-risk or regulated areas.
- Maintain compliance with safety procedures including hot work, confined space, lockout/tagout, fall protection, respiratory protection, and asbestos protocols.
- Participate in risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and behavior-based safety observations.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and compliance deviations; recommend and track corrective actions.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve the EHS management system (HSEMS) and overall safety culture.
- Maintain databases for tracking training, compliance metrics, and regulatory requirements.
- Support hazardous waste shipments, inspections, and environmental monitoring activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field
- 2–5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Direct experience managing environmental permits and regulatory reporting strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of:
- RCRA (hazardous waste compliance)
- CWA (wastewater and stormwater permitting)
- OSHA regulations and workplace safety programs
- Experience with Environmental and Health & Safety Management Systems (ISO 14001 / 45001) and auditing
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills

Pay
The typical base salary range for this position is between $71,822.00 and $107,732.00
