About the role

The Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) Program and Compliance Assurance Leader, Americas is responsible for managing, leading, and tracking the implementation of EHS programs, including Process Safety Management (PSM) programs at required locations across America's ISC. This position provides strategic and tactical direction, leadership, and technical support to advance EHS requirements in conjunction with Trane Technologies, Regional, and SBU requirements, serving as the subject matter expert (SME) for PSM. Core responsibilities include compliance assurance activities such as internal and external audits, ensuring sites meet regulatory and company obligations. Additional responsibilities include supporting the SBU EHS director on assigned initiatives. This role requires up to 50% travel.

Responsibilities

• Ensure EHS Standard Work is implemented and layered audits are conducted based on Trane Technologies' Business Operating System (BOS) requirements.
• Manage and implement the EHS Management System requirements across the region.
• Support the launch of all activities needed to incorporate standard work.
• Develop a culture of process discipline around leaders following standard work.
• Develop EHS and business leaders to create, implement, and sustain EHS standard work at each site across the region.
• Manage and implement Process Safety Management (PSM) at required locations, ensuring systems, procedures, competency, and best practices are applied.
• Onboard and develop internal PSM resources at assigned plant locations.
• Interface directly with PSM consultants to drive PSM program development and implementation.
• Assist sites during PSM audits with preparation and closure of findings.
• Ensure systems are in place to monitor and achieve compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agency requirements, including assisting sites with audit preparation and closure of findings.
• Create and implement systems to ensure compliance with internal company requirements (e.g., Action Tracking System (ATS), Compliance Calendar, Permit Manager, Immersion Tracker).
• Provide professional problem-solving input for both short-term and long-term opportunities.
• Manage and provide recommendations on EHS resource requirements.
• Implement strategies to reduce work site incidents/events in alignment with EHS reduction goals.
• Coach and develop plant EHS teams on root cause analysis for accidents/injuries to prevent recurrence.
• Provide timely information and guidance to leadership, including EHS performance trends and root cause corrective actions for incidents and near misses.
• Support employee engagement around EHS and other key initiatives of the leadership team.
• Act as a liaison between business unit/corporate and service teams to resolve issues and concerns.
• Develop strategies to remain current on EHS information, legislation, and technical advances, understanding their impact on assigned operations.
• Support M&A activities as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 7+ years of direct EHS management and supervisory responsibility.
• Proven skills in implementing complex safety programs and procedures.
• Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, PSM, EPA, and DOT regulations, with experience interpreting local and state environmental and safety standards.
• Results-oriented with a manufacturing process background and proven ability to successfully implement EHS Management system elements, including Process Safety Management.
• One or more safety-related professional certifications desired (e.g., CHMM, CSP).
• Proven ability to teach and coach others for performance and success.
• Knowledge of material concerns (metals & VOCs) and familiarity with effective methods of utilization/exposure reduction and control.
• Solid experience in environmental laws (waste, air, and water).
• Demonstrated experience integrating EHS into the manufacturing process preferred.
• Proven ability to interact effectively with all levels of leadership and plant personnel.
• Strong computer and analytical skills, high motivation, and passion for EHS management with minimal direction needed.
• Six Sigma Green Belt certification and familiarity with lean manufacturing tools, including basic problem-solving (BPS).

Pay

Annual Base Salary Range: $123,721.66 - $173,004.99. This is a salaried position with incentive eligibility. The actual compensation will depend on factors such as seniority, merit, geographic location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation.
