Scope of Position

The EHS Manager leads the development and execution of the company’s environmental, health, and safety strategy. This role ensures full compliance with all Federal, State, and Local industrial standards while cultivating a proactive safety culture across all operations. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who can drive continuous improvement in safety performance, training, and environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Leadership & Compliance: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS policies, procedures, and programs that comply with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Training & Development: Partner with the Training Department to design and deliver safety and environmental training programs that empower employees to work safely and responsibly.
  • Incident Management: Lead investigations of workplace incidents, illnesses, and injuries. Identify root causes, implement corrective and preventive measures, and track completion and effectiveness.
  • Human Performance & Culture: Promote Human Performance principles through training, engagement tools, and event learning teams to build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration & Partnership: Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Human Resources to proactively identify and address safety and environmental concerns.
  • Worker’s Compensation Support: Assist with Worker’s Compensation claims and coordinate with HR and insurance representatives to ensure proper case management and reporting.
  • Safety Committee & Audits: Lead the employee Safety Committee and facilitate regular site audits to identify potential hazards, ensuring timely corrective action and follow-up.
  • Plant Security Oversight: Manage and coordinate plant security efforts, serving as the main point of contact for contracted security services.
  • Environmental Compliance: Manage programs related to hazardous materials, air permits, waste disposal, and environmental reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in EHS management or a related field
  • Professional certification preferred (CIH, CSP, or CHP)
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state-specific safety and environmental regulations
  • Experience managing hazardous materials and environmental permitting/reporting processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Collaborative team player who thrives in both independent and cross-functional environments
