Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop processes and program content that support safety, health and environmental for the site and train personnel on these processes and programs.
  • Provide Front Line Leader training to site leadership to educate site leaders on new processes and procedures.
  • Provide expertise and direction regarding regulatory agencies (OSHA & EPA) enforcement procedures, techniques, and interpretations to ensure regulatory compliance for the company.
  • Provide guidance regarding interpretation and implementation of industry standards such as ANSI, NFPA, ASSE, etc.
  • Provide guidance for responses to regulatory agencies regarding enforcement actions, coordinating with the Legal Department regulatory attorney as necessary.
  • Review written requests for proposals, capital projects and safety, health and environmental service agreements to ensure safety and health risks are identified and mitigated.
  • Assist in the development and revision of safety and environmental standards, policies, plans, forms, and procedures, and ensure they comply with local, state, and federal laws as well as corporate standards.
  • Ensure required reporting is completed monthly, quarterly and annually.
  • Manage and mitigate all workers’ compensation claims.
  • Manage and control dust collect emissions and work with department leaders in establishing a plan to reduce emissions.
  • Assist in the reporting of safety data and submit results to site and corporate leadership in semi-annual safety performance reports.
  • Assist in the leading of the Industrial Hygiene Program, providing guidance to sites regarding sampling requirements, tracking sampling progress and ensuring required sampling is completed.
  • Perform physical safety inspections at sites to identify hazards, and to ensure OSHA, provincial and corporate standard compliance.
  • Assist sites with significant incident investigations and Root Cause Analyses (RCA’s).

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • 5-7 years of experience in safety and health
  • 3-5 years of EHS Manager experience in manufacturing
  • Bachelors degree in EHS or similar or equivalent work experience
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred
  • Prior experience in food manufacturing preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
