EHS Director
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the site EHS strategy, policies, and objectives in alignment with corporate EHS standards and business needs.
- Lead and mentor the site EHS team, ensuring clear responsibilities, technical competency, and long-term strategic alignment.
- Manage and monitor the annual EHS budget, operational expenses, and capital investments for the plant.
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, IEPA, DOT, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Own the site risk assessment framework and manage change from an EHS perspective.
- Interface with regulatory agencies and lead inspections and audits.
- Provide leadership on process safety topics, including hazardous chemical handling and equipment operations.
- Oversee programs related to chemical inventory management, hazardous waste characterization, and emergency response preparedness.
- Partner with various departments to ensure appropriate design and operation of facilities handling high-potency compounds.
- Maintain strong field presence to proactively identify and mitigate EHS risks.
- Ensure effective implementation of permit systems.
- Review and approve EHS procedures and site communications.
- Define and oversee site EHS training programs and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Assure leadership for investigations of EHS incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Track and analyze EHS KPIs and report site performance.
Requirements
Essential Skills:
- Environmental health expertise
- Proficiency with OSHA, EPA, IEPA, and DOT regulations
- Experience with EHS safety programs and compliance
- Knowledge of chemical safety and API pharmaceutical processes
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in the Sciences
- 10-20 years of experience within EHSS
- Strong problem-solving skills and expertise with key customer relations in EHS contexts
Work Environment
The EHS Division is located onsite at the facility, supporting the API and Chromatography lines of business. The role involves collaboration with various departments, including quality, R&D, and production, to meet site needs and customer requirements.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Wilmette, IL. Pay And Benefits: The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $160000.00/yr. 401k, health insurance, dental, paid holidays, PTO (15 days), etc.
