This is an onsite role based at our facility in Fontana, CA. The expected annual salary range for this role is $56,000 - $83,000 a year. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

About the role

The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator supports environmental, health, safety, and security efforts at the site, focusing on the deployment of Managing Environmental Safety and Health (MESH) initiatives and working directly with front line leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Support EHS activities at the site, including leading MESH elements and maintaining EHS systems and processes such as monitoring and measurement systems related to EHS.
  • Report and communicate EHS metrics, collect and organize EHS action items, and support EHS training for various initiatives.
  • Lead and support EHS teams, incident investigations, and site internal assessment activities.
  • Champion and lead team projects designed to drive improvements in the “Zero Incident Safety Culture” program(s).
  • Monitor critical components such as critical machine guarding compliance, electrical safe work practices, confined space entry process, and lock out tag out process.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and achievement of annual safety and environmental targets and metrics to drive EHS culture, compliance, and results.
  • Implement and provide guidance and oversight to employee-led safety teams and interact with local functional managers to execute programs and projects.
  • Serve as leader of the plant’s safety committee.
  • Maintain an up-to-date emergency response procedure and run drills (plant evacuation, medical emergency drills, weather events, etc.).
  • Partner with other functional teams to ensure plant projects, changes, upgrades, and modifications adhere to Management of Change (MOC) and MESH “Change Management” processes.
  • Assist the Operational Excellence engineering team with building and grounds capital projects as required.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to functional managers and employees for investigations of accidents and near misses, identify root causes, track trends, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Coordinate assigned Occupational Safety and Health and other training programs, including but not limited to: Personal Protective Equipment, Forklift, First Aid, Machine Safety, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Blood Borne Pathogen, Foot Protection, Eye Protection, Confined Space, Contractor Safety, and Hazard Communication.
  • Ensure accurate and complete EHS reporting of metrics and closure of assigned MESH and regulatory agency findings.
  • Assist with intermediate communication with public/government authorities and provide guidance during crises as needed.
  • Compile and analyze MESH data for Eaton’s Safety database, including corrective action tracking and MESH scoring, and review the site's Workstation Risk Assessment Program.
  • Coordinate site sustainability initiatives, including recycling programs, Zero-Waste-To-Landfill, waste minimization, and other sustainability efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and 1+ years of Environmental Health and Safety experience OR HS Diploma/GED and 3+ years of Environmental Health and Safety experience.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Fontana, CA will be considered.

Qualifications

  • Operations in distribution or manufacturing (a plus).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills as well as planning and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint & Word).
  • Understanding of basic EHS principles and tools, including safe work practices, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Experience leading training sessions.
  • Experience in distribution, warehousing, or high-volume manufacturing environments.

  • Ability to manage by influence through solid relationships and process focus.
  • Ability to effectively present results and recommendations to senior-level executive team.
  • Ability to effectively utilize Benchmark Gensuite and other cloud-based software.
