About the role

The East Hartford Repair Operations (EHRO) has an opportunity for a Process and Manufacturing Engineering (P4) position within the Connecticut Rotating Parts (CTRP) engineering team. As a CTRP Process and Manufacturing Engineer (PME), you will report directly to the Connecticut Rotating Parts (CTRP) Engineering Manager and be responsible for a subset of hardware flowing through the CTRP shop floor. This role is ideal for a technical leader who enjoys hands-on work in a machine shop environment and solving problems daily.

This position is onsite at our East Hartford, CT location. U.S. citizenship is required due to program access requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and coordination of Pratt & Whitney support organizations and suppliers, focusing on advanced coating systems
  • Drive process development and training, as well as qualification of advanced coating equipment, including surface preparation
  • Create work instructions and optimize process parameters to support coating processes
  • Establish operational infrastructure for data collection of coating processes
  • Stay current on industry and professional developments
  • Maintain a world-class safety culture and respond promptly to all EH&S requirements
  • Promote corporate ethical standards, business practices, and company policies
  • Provide daily technical support to the shop floor for thermal spray challenges during the repair process
  • Develop and enforce standardized engineering practices, processes, tools, and methods across products
  • Manage projects and lead CORE business progress, lean manufacturing, and quality improvement efforts
  • Select and introduce new capital equipment to improve cell business metrics

Requirements

  • Advanced Degree and 5+ years of experience in Engineering, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or Aviation industry; OR Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant industry experience

Qualifications

  • Degree in a STEM field; Materials Science, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering preferred
  • Experience and/or familiarity with thermal spray coatings specifications, particularly in an FAA Repair Station MRO environment
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing and/or repair process life cycle
  • Strong technical and functional knowledge of turbine engines and/or Pratt & Whitney products
  • Ability to read and interpret technical data, engine manuals, and blueprints
  • Advanced skills in robotic programming; experience with ASEA robot via S4 control is a plus
  • Experience with CAD/CAM programs, Solumina MES, SAP ERP, and MS Office Suite
  • Project management experience with the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience leading and motivating teams to achieve business goals
  • Strong communication skills at all levels of the organization, including senior management

Pay

The salary range for this role is $107,500 - $204,500 USD. The range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits depend on the business unit and whether the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
