Duties/Responsibilities
- Collaborate with various disciplines, including clinical staff, therapists, counselors, billing and coding teams, quality improvement, compliance, operations, and leadership in rehabilitation and behavioral health facilities to gather, analyze, and document detailed business and clinical requirements.
- Be a trusted advisor to senior leaders regarding EHR optimization and clinical workflow alignment efforts, developing a strong understanding of the organization’s overall application and configuration needs.
- Design, build, configure, test, and deploy custom electronic forms and templates within the EHR platform. Develop clinically intuitive forms for assessments, intake processes, treatment plans, discharge summaries, consents, and other discipline-specific documentation, incorporating branching logic, validation rules, and data standardization to support both clinical documentation and accurate billing/coding.
- Create and maintain custom user interface components, home screens, and quick-access functionality to enhance user dashboards. Configure interactive dashboard components for real-time data display, task management, alerts, key performance indicators, charge capture, and personalized clinical/billing views to improve workflow efficiency.
- Configure and optimize various note types (progress notes, group notes, narrative notes, encounter notes, and specialized discipline-specific notes) within the EHR platform. Ensure notes support structured data capture, auto-population, smart templates, and seamless integration with forms, treatment plans, and billing workflows.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize custom reports, dashboards, and analytics using the EHR's native reporting modules and data extraction tools. Create solutions that support clinical outcomes tracking, quality metrics, productivity monitoring, financial performance, billing accuracy, coding compliance, regulatory requirements, state/federal mandates, and industry-specific reimbursement rules.
- Perform system configuration, workflow optimization, and thorough testing (unit, integration, and user acceptance testing) for all forms, dashboard components, notes, billing enhancements, reports, and system updates. Troubleshoot application issues, coordinate with the software vendor's enterprise support team, and ensure all changes maintain data integrity, security, and HIPAA compliance.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including requirements documents, design specifications, form and template inventories, user manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training materials, and system change logs. Manage application version control and support audit readiness for clinical and billing processes.
- Handle application administrative and support tasks, including user access provisioning, security role mapping, system monitoring, data quality oversight, upgrade planning and testing, and basic integration activities with third-party billing or clearinghouse systems.
- Provide training sessions to end-users on new and updated EHR forms, custom dashboard components, note types, billing workflows, reports, and coding tools. Deliver ongoing technical support and workflow optimization recommendations to promote system adoption and maximize reimbursement accuracy.
