About the role

Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty in water treatment, hazardous waste operations, and sampling activities at the plant wastewater treatment facility. This position may involve exposure to chemicals and requires ascertaining compliance with all Company and Governmental regulations. The Operator is also a first responder and may work during shutdown periods. Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and scheduled and unscheduled overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor effluent equipment controls and make manual adjustments and corrections as necessary to comply with local, state, and federal safe water discharge regulations.
  • Monitor all Waste Water pits in the plant and respond to problems.
  • Mix acid for delivery to production areas as needed, maintain full tanks at proper specific gravity as required.
  • Maintain working knowledge of acid delivery system, pumps, valves, etc.
  • Understand sources of used acid, collection pits, pumps, valves, and delivery lines to acid reclaim tanks and delivery back to user areas at required gravity.
  • Move up, around, and below machinery and facilities as necessary to visually observe, monitor, inspect, and adjust.
  • Accurately enter data using electronic, paper, and other means to record information.
  • Perform daily housekeeping, hygiene, and cleanliness procedures.
  • Assist with EHS Technician responsibilities as needed.
  • Demonstrate a consistently positive, cooperative, self-motivated, courteous, and professional attitude.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Two years of manufacturing or distribution center work experience.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • One year of experience operating a PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) required.
  • Ability to work in a plant/warehouse environment with varying working conditions.
