EEG Tech (Per Diem)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Performs routine EEGs on inpatients at their bedside throughout the Hospital.
  • Log on remotely at the start of the day to see how many patients have pending EEGs.
  • Establish a work plan and priorities.
  • (If concerns arise lacking clear precedent, then this would be reviewed with the Neurologist on call for that day or the Nursing Manager.)
  • Perform the appropriate calibration procedure on the EEG instrument for standard recordings.
  • Measure and apply electrodes using standard 10/20 placement.
  • Understand basic troubleshooting of the equipment to provide artifact-free recordings.
  • Be able to make discriminating observations and follow-up with physicians if indicated during a recording.
  • Enter patient billing information into the database system at the end of each day.
  • Notify the Neurologist before leaving the hospital at the completion of the day.
  • Archive studies, and may make copies for Medical Records when asked to do so.
  • Contact Biomedical engineering or the IT dept. with any equipment malfunctions.
  • Order and stock supplies.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a Commission on Accreditation Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) accredited ENDT program or an Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Capacity to deal with severely ill patients.
  • Physically able to assist with movement of patients and testing equipment.

Qualifications

  • Credentialed as a Registered Electroencephalography Technologist (R. EEG T.) or board eligible by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET).
  • Current AHA BLS certification.

Physical/Environmental Requirements

  • Frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs.
  • Occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 – 100 lbs and sitting.
  • Constant use of hearing, sight and speech.
  • Frequent use of smell and touch.
  • Frequent keyboard and telephone use.
  • Constant concentration and problem solving.

Pay

Pay Range: $26.47 - $47.59

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
