About the role

As an EEG Technician at Banner – University Medical Center Tucson, you will continuously monitor inpatient video and EEG recordings to ensure uninterrupted, high-quality data capture. You will promptly identify and report any significant changes or abnormalities to the appropriate clinical staff while maintaining patient safety and accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous observation of inpatient video and EEG recordings to ensure uninterrupted, clean data capture.
  • Report pertinent changes and abnormalities to clinical staff, including nursing, physicians, and technologists.
  • Recognize and detect changes in patient recordings, distinguishing artifacts from cortical activity.
  • Alert staff when clinical seizures or other paroxysmal events occur.
  • Respond to patient events timely and accurately while maintaining patient safety according to policy and procedure.
  • Accurately document patient information in the recording system, patient logs, and within the EEG recording.
  • Utilize knowledge of monitoring systems and camera control to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues within scope of training.
  • Communicate with patients and/or EEG Technicians to identify and resolve technical issues during EEG studies.
  • Escalate issues to management as appropriate.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with multidisciplinary staff during shift changes.
  • Manage high patient volumes and ensure prompt resolution of patient issues.
  • Complete hospital training to activate rapid response and cardiac arrest systems per established protocols when encountering patient clinical issues.
  • May assist Neurodiagnostic Technologists with restocking supplies, electrode removal, regel, and disinfection.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • Minimum of one year of direct patient care experience.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with hospital staff, neurologists, and other technologists.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Science-based background or area of study.
  • One year of direct patient care in an epilepsy monitoring unit.

Schedule

7:00 AM – 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, full-time and part-time, varied days including some weekends.
