EEC Floating Infant/Toddler/Preschool Teacher (Full-Time)

Description

Under the supervision of the Supervising Lead Teacher, the Floating Infant/Toddler/Preschool Teacher at Boroughs Family Branch provides direction for the classroom and implements curriculum which promotes social, cultural, educational, physical and emotional growth. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Essential Functions

• Has knowledge of and maintains NAEYC and DEEC standards.
• Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans to support a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Supervises the children, classroom, Teacher Assistants, and all activities. Ensures care and safety of children.
• Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child according to the required schedule.
• Conducts parent conferences and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers.
• Maintains classroom and equipment.
• Maintains required program records including attendance, medical, and food service records.
• Posts schedule, curriculum, and menus according to regulation.
• Attends and participates in family nights, staff meetings, staff training, and YMCA special events.
• Additional duties as required and assigned by a supervisor to support the overall mission of the YMCA and to ensure the success of the Child Care Department.

Qualifications

• Meets educational and experience qualifications established by DEEC, NAEYC, and QRIS.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Preferred associate degree or evidence of enrollment in a college degree program.
• Must obtain, and keep current, certification in CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention.
• Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities and curriculum.
• Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is strongly preferred to support effective communication with all members of our community.

Schedule

40 hours weekly position. Monday-Friday from 8:30am to 5:30pm.

Pay

$20.50-$25.13/hr (based on education and experience).

Bonus

New hires for EEC teaching positions at the Boroughs Family Branch will get a $2,000 bonus: $500 paid immediately upon hire, $500 upon completion of a 90-day review, and $1,000 at the 180-day mark.
