About the role
The Educator, under the supervision of the Sterile Processing department Manager or designee, is responsible for staff education and training in all areas, including new hire training, Endoscopy/HLD training, Process Improvement Coaching, and Interim Education across decontamination, sterilization, and assembly.
Responsibilities
- Ensure employees are effectively trained on all required competency skill levels as mandated by regulatory committees.
- Conduct sterile processing employee assessments of job performance to policy and standard work; identify competency deficiencies and provide targeted training.
- Participate in and assist with new hire orientation and on-the-job training as directed by the SPD Manager per company policy.
- Complete and maintain training records, employee education files, and documentation of competency skill levels as required by regulatory bodies.
- Ensure employee training files, certifications, and continuing education credits are up to date and accurately reflect job-related responsibilities.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of multi-specialty instrumentation and serve as a resource for SPD staff.
- Provide re-education training and communication for performance issues identified in OR and instrumentation tray audits; assist in driving quality measures.
- Conduct employee assessments and train staff to address noted deficiencies.
- Aid in the ongoing development of staff education by providing in-services at a cadence determined by the SPD Manager and/or operations leadership.
- Develop and implement training education plans for new employees, regardless of prior central sterile processing experience.
- Assist in the development, collection, and support of performance improvement measures outlined by the SPD department.
- Adjust schedule to work with all employees across all shifts to ensure training needs are met, including pre-arranged weekend, night, and evening hours.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required.
- 2+ years of training experience or leadership in Sterile Processing required.
- 5+ years of Sterile Processing experience required.
- CRCST (HSPA) or CSPDT (CBSPD) certification required.
- Must maintain certification by completing 12 Continuing Education Credit Hours each year, or more if required for a specific certification.
Pay
$27 - $45 per hour
Schedule
- Full-time, non-union, 8-hour shifts (days).
- Flexibility to work pre-arranged weekend, night, and evening hours as needed.
