Educator & Infection Prevention Registered Nurse (RN)

Mercy Youngstown Behavioral Health is a joint operation with Lifepoint Health and Mercy Health, dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. As an Educator & Infection Prevention RN, you will play a crucial role in shaping a culture of safety and clinical excellence.

About the role

We are expanding our inpatient capacity from 48 to 72 beds, enhancing our ability to serve more individuals and strengthening our team of professionals.

Responsibilities

• Annually reviews and revises hospital infection control plan, implementing necessary protocols for the upcoming year.
• Collaborates with other healthcare team members to conduct the antimicrobial stewardship program.
• Educates and coaches staff on infection prevention procedures and information related to infections in the healthcare industry, bloodborne pathogens, and hand hygiene.
• Instructs staff on CDC preventative measures for infection.
• Maintains flu vaccinations for staff and patients, ensuring timely administration and monitoring compliance.
• Maintains records for needle stick incidents and develops plans to prevent future accidents.
• Demonstrates a thorough understanding of infection control regulations, including TJC, CMS, Medicaid, state, and federal laws, and ensures compliance.

Requirements

• A current Ohio RN license.
• An Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing school.
• Certified Infection Control Practitioner (CIC).
• Completion of APIC EPI course and membership in APIC within 30 days of hire.
• Previous infection control experience preferred.

Schedule

The schedule is 5x8, Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
