Professionally support the mission of San Joaquin County Office of Education, in providing high quality delivery of educational services to all students.
Responsibilities
- Provide interpreting/transliteration services that effectively, accurately, and impartially, both receptively and expressively, using any necessary specialized vocabulary that facilitates communication between deaf and/or hard of hearing (D/HH), students and others; teachers, administrator, parents, students, counselors.
- Assist a teacher in providing instruction to deaf and hard of hearing students.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Equivalent of the completion of the twelfth grade.
- Demonstrate proficiency in basic reading, writing and math skills at a level required for high school seniors by completing ONE of the below options:
- -Proof of AA or BA Degree from a regionally accredited college
- -48 Semester units with a C- or better OR
- -Successful completion of the basic proficiency test*

- RID Certification or equivalent; in lieu of RID certification, an educational interpreter must have achieved a score of 4.0 or above on the EIPA, the ESSE-I/R, or the NAD/ACCI assessment.
