Educational Sign Language Interpreter, Special Education (one or more positions)

Professionally support the mission of San Joaquin County Office of Education, in providing high quality delivery of educational services to all students.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting/transliteration services that effectively, accurately, and impartially, both receptively and expressively, using any necessary specialized vocabulary that facilitates communication between deaf and/or hard of hearing (D/HH), students and others; teachers, administrator, parents, students, counselors.
• Assist a teacher in providing instruction to deaf and hard of hearing students.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Equivalent of the completion of the twelfth grade.
• Demonstrate proficiency in basic reading, writing and math skills at a level required for high school seniors by completing ONE of the below options:
• -Proof of AA or BA Degree from a regionally accredited college
• -48 Semester units with a C- or better OR
• -Successful completion of the basic proficiency test*
• *If you need to take the basic proficiency test, administered by the San Joaquin County Office of Education, learn more and register for the exam at https://calendly.com/proficiencyexam-sjcoe.
• RID Certification or equivalent; in lieu of RID certification, an educational interpreter must have achieved a score of 4.0 or above on the EIPA, the ESSE-I/R, or the NAD/ACCI assessment.
