Educational Coordinator

Responsibilities

  • Conducts new student intake and orientation, including completion of student profile information, student interviews, educational assessments, records review, and other required enrollment procedures.
  • Coordinates with resident school districts to obtain complete and accurate educational records in a timely manner.
  • Serves as a liaison between ERESC and resident school districts regarding student enrollment, placement, records, credits, graduation requirements, and educational programming.
  • Oversees the organization, maintenance, accuracy, and confidentiality of student educational records.
  • Reviews student transcripts and develops comprehensive ERESC student transcripts, as appropriate.
  • Develops and maintains an individualized Graduation Worksheet for students to monitor earned credits, outstanding requirements, testing requirements, and anticipated graduation status.
  • Monitors student academic progress and communicates concerns regarding credits, graduation requirements, and educational programming to appropriate school personnel.
  • Maintains current contact information for appropriate personnel within resident school districts, community agencies, and outside facilities.
  • Coordinates the administration of all applicable state-mandated assessments and standardized testing for the assigned school or program.
  • Ensures that testing procedures, materials, schedules, accommodations, security requirements, and documentation are completed in accordance with applicable regulations and guidelines.
  • Attends required state, district, and Commission training related to standardized testing and assessment administration.
  • Provides appropriate training, guidance, and support to teachers and other staff responsible for administering assessments.
  • Maintains required testing records and assists administration with ensuring compliance with state assessment requirements.
  • Collaborates with Child Study Teams, case managers, teachers, administrators, and related service providers regarding students with disabilities.
  • Assists in obtaining Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), evaluations, educational records, related service documentation, and other required materials for students receiving special education services.
  • Supports communication between ERESC and resident school district Child Study Teams to facilitate continuity of services.
  • Participates in student meetings, staffings, transition meetings, and other case management activities as assigned.
  • Assists in coordinating services for students with specialized or intensive needs, including students experiencing behavioral, emotional, social, family, substance-use, parenting, or other barriers that may affect educational success.
  • Provides case management support and assists students and families with accessing appropriate educational and community-based resources.
  • Participates in crisis management and intervention activities consistent with Commission policies, procedures, training, and assigned responsibilities.
  • Supports the implementation of secondary education, high school equivalency, English as a Second Language (ESL), credit recovery, and other alternative educational programs as applicable.
  • Supports the implementation of curriculum and instructional programs designed to prepare students for post-secondary education, employment, independent living, and responsible citizenship.
  • Collaborates with instructional staff and administration to identify educational barriers and appropriate interventions for students.
  • Assists with the coordination of academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and transition supports designed to improve student outcomes.
  • Coordinates and supports School-to-Work, career readiness, workforce development, college and career planning, and other post-secondary initiatives.
  • Assists students with identifying appropriate post-secondary education, vocational training, employment, and community-based opportunities.
  • Collaborates with staff and outside organizations to provide students with information and resources related to career exploration, workplace readiness, life skills, and transition planning.
  • Coordinates student support services available on-site or through partnerships with community and social service agencies, including counseling, childcare, transportation, workforce development, and other appropriate services.
  • Establishes and maintains professional relationships with resident school districts, community organizations, government agencies, and service providers.
  • Participates in meetings with outside agencies and school district representatives as required.
  • Serves as an advocate for appropriate educational services and resources necessary to support student success.
  • Researches and recommends professional development opportunities related to literacy, student support, workplace readiness, alternative education, case management, crisis intervention, community resources, and other areas relevant to the program.
  • Assists administration in identifying strategies to improve educational programming and student outcomes.
  • Participates in professional development, workshops, meetings, and training sessions as required by ERESC or applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Completes and submits all required state, district, Commission, and program reports accurately and within established timelines.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation related to student services, educational programming, case management, testing, and other assigned responsibilities.
  • Attends on-site and off-site meetings, workshops, staffings, conferences, and professional development activities as directed.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of student, family, personnel, and Commission information in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and ERESC policies.
  • Demonstrates professional conduct and maintains appropriate working relationships with students, families, colleagues, administrators, resident districts, and community partners.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Previous professional experience working with children and/or adolescents in an alternative educational setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in case management and coordination of student services.
  • Experience and/or approved training in crisis management and intervention.
  • Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, school personnel, Child Study Teams, resident school districts, and community agencies.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive student and family information.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, deadlines, student cases, and program requirements simultaneously.
  • Must pass CHRU background check.
  • Proof of recent TB screening.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Educational Leadership, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with at-risk, alternative education, special education, or other specialized student populations.
  • Knowledge of New Jersey graduation requirements, student assessment requirements, special education procedures, and educational records management.
  • Experience coordinating standardized or state-mandated testing.
  • Experience with student transition planning, college and career readiness, and community-based services.

Pay

$75,000 - $80,000
