Job Summary

The Educational Consultant, an experienced special education teacher, provides ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to assigned classroom teams in Bucks IU School Aged classrooms and/or school district classrooms. The Educational Consultant must have training and expertise in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis to recommend current, effective evidence-based instructional practices.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborates and consults with professional, paraprofessional staff, and other school personnel to develop a cohesive learning community, ensuring continuous improvement and improving overall quality of student outcomes.
  • Provides onsite guided practice, feedback, and support to the teacher in the following areas: classroom environment, assessment, program development, instructional delivery and materials, data collection, data analysis, and progress monitoring.
  • Maintains and assists with the collection, organization, and analysis of assessment data for the purpose of ensuring measurable student progress toward goals.
  • Supports the implementation of behavioral strategies and interventions.
  • Provides recommendations for and guidance in selecting appropriate student assessment.
  • Uses data collection, including treatment fidelity checklists, to guide feedback.
  • Reviews and provides feedback on student data; supports data-based instructional decisions.
  • Provides professional development learning opportunities to professional and paraprofessional support staff.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities to further develop own skills and contribute to effective program development and training.
  • Attends IEP meetings.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand for long periods, and to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, 193-day calendar position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours are dependent on the needs of the districts. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

May be required to travel to itinerant locations throughout Bucks County and surrounding regions.
