About the Role
To implement instructional activities and programs as directed. Educational Assistants work with students individually, in small groups, or in large groups as necessary and as prescribed by the immediate supervisor. Special Education Assistants usually work with students with identified special needs or those who require additional educational assistance as defined in an Individual Education Plan (IEP).
Responsibilities
- Work with students individually, in small groups, or in large groups as directed.
- Demonstrate continuous sensitivity to the needs of assigned children.
- Carry out instructional or developmental activities suggested by the teacher, specialist, or building administrator.
- Maintain competency and skills through available professional development offerings.
- May be responsible for personal care needs of student(s).
- May be expected to obtain and maintain CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- High school graduate (preferably with college experience).
- Experience working with children.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
Pay
Hourly salary: $19.56 plus:
- $1.00 per hour for NH Department of Education certification as a Paraeducator II or as a teacher.
- $3.00 per hour differential for certification as a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT).
Schedule
6.5 hours per day, 183 days per school year.
