About the role

Responsibilities

  • Foster a supportive and effective learning environment
  • Provide instructional support to students
  • Manage classroom/building activities
  • Aid in the implementation of educational programs

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Desire to work interactively with students and staff
  • Personal knowledge and work experience with school-aged children and children with disabilities
  • Experience and working knowledge supporting program delivery for students with disabilities in a public school system
  • Sensitivity to students from various cultures and patience with those learning a second language
  • Fluency in English, with multilingual abilities a plus
  • A high school diploma
  • A two-year Associates Degree or higher (or the ability to pass a highly-qualified assessment)
  • To maintain Highly Qualified Status, take 20 hours of annual training
  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, stretch, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Corrected hearing and vision within normal ranges
