About the role

Cumberland Valley School District has an Educational Assistant (EA) I position, offering four (4) work hours per day. Each employee working within the EA I capacity will be assigned support staff duties based on building needs which could encompass the IMC, ESL, Special Education, Security Monitor, or Physical Education.

The EA I plays a vital role in fostering a supportive and effective learning environment, ensuring that all students can succeed. This position works closely with classroom teachers and other district employees to provide instructional support, manage classroom/building activities, and assist with the implementation of educational programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional support to classroom teachers

  • Assist with the implementation of educational programs
  • Support program delivery for students with disabilities in a public school system

Requirements

  • High school diploma (required)
  • Two-year Associate’s Degree or higher (preferred) or ability to pass a highly-qualified assessment
  • Complete twenty (20) hours of training annually to maintain Highly Qualified Status
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods, bend, stretch, and lift 50 pounds
  • Corrected hearing and vision within normal ranges
  • Submit the following clearances if hired:
    • Criminal Record Check (less than one year old)
    • PA Child Abuse History Clearance (less than one year old)
    • FBI Fingerprint Clearance (less than one year old)
    • TB Test/Mantoux (less than 3 months old)
    • Physical (less than one year old, if applicable)

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills and desire to work interactively with students and staff
  • Personal knowledge and work experience with school-aged children and children with cognitive, physical, and behavioral disabilities (highly sought)
  • Experience supporting program delivery for students with disabilities in a public school system (highly desired)
  • Sensitivity to students from a variety of cultures and patience with students learning a second language
  • Fluency in English (required); multilingual abilities (a plus)

Pay

Starting wage of $19.35/hr for the 2026-2027 school year.

Schedule

Four (4) work hours per day.
