EDUCATIONAL AIDE (SPECIAL EDUCATION).
About the role
This position involves monitoring students during various phases of the school day, providing assistance with toileting, feeding, eating, and personal hygiene, and supporting educational efforts in the Special Education classroom and general education classroom as needed.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring students during various phases of the school day
- Providing assistance in toileting, feeding, eating, and personal hygiene
- Supporting educational efforts in the Special Education classroom and general education classroom as needed
- Performing administrative tasks such as attendance records, filing, scheduling, and reviewing assignments
- Working with students in accordance with plans developed by the specialist and educator
- Participating in Parent Teacher conferences
- Preparing instructional materials related to classroom lessons
Requirements
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement. Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Appointment is subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation. This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.
Qualifications
To qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs and other organizations. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
- Experience: at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job, defined as progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of an Educational Aide
- Education Substitution: 2 years (60 semester hours) of education above high school may be substituted for general experience
- Combination of education and general experience: a combination of education and general experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%
