Education Transition Support Specialist - Learning & Teaching
About the role
The Agency of Education (AOE) is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as an Education Transition Support Specialist - Learning & Teaching. This role involves supporting major legislative initiatives related to education policy and school district transformation. Key responsibilities include leading and coordinating AOE supports for learning and teaching standards, integration, and planning in alignment with state education transformation goals. The position also involves driving significant field interaction and integrated district-level supports.
Responsibilities
- Audit or review existing systems and identify points of integration with other critical processes or systems.
- Facilitate discussion with, and recommend solutions to, school and district leadership regarding resource reorganization in alignment with statewide education goals and policy changes.
- Engage with district leaders and subject matter experts to support organizational planning strategies and ensure an effective use of resources and integration of business process and systems.
- Utilize existing data or regulations, such as District and Education Quality Standards, to identify and implement supports.
- Provide direct testimony to VT legislature to inform major policy changes related to education finance, governance, and accountability.
Requirements
This position requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in education, organizational development, business, public administration, continuous improvement, or a related field, with four (4) years or more of experience in change management or organizational development that includes experience in the basic concepts of process improvement, strategic planning, organizational redesign, change management, and performance analysis. Alternatively, eight (8) years or more of experience in change management or organizational development with similar experience is acceptable.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have demonstrated experience with, and a thorough knowledge of, curriculum and instruction principles and practices, with an emphasis on the impact of these principles in public Pre-K-12 school systems OR working knowledge of such, and an extensive background in project management for projects or initiatives involving education, curriculum, or related policy.
Skills
Candidates must be able to analyze complex activities, relationships, and situations, identify problems, draw logical conclusions, and develop and defend independent recommendations.

Pay
Total compensation includes a competitive salary and a range of benefits valued at about 30% of total compensation.
Schedule
Work is performed in a standard office setting, but some in-state travel will be required.
