Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe learning environment for students within the scope of the Arrow Center for Education Schools administrative policies and procedures
• Hire or participate in the hiring process of instructional staff
• Provide and document direct individual and group supervision to teachers and practicum students according to policy and/or practicum requirements
• Evaluate performance of instructional staff and practicum students
• Conduct both evaluation and non-evaluation classroom observations to support instructional development of the teaching team
• Conduct staff development training, according to identified needs
• Assist in the assessment, design, and implementation of the professional development program
• Coordinate daily classroom staffing
• Assist in the development and maintenance of a positive school culture
• Maintain proper rules, safety, and security of students, providing crisis intervention when necessary
• Manage library, media center, instructional materials, and technology resources of the school
• Together with the Principal and other administrators, continually assess the overall program to assure optimum functioning as well as COMAR compliance
• Inform the Principal of all relevant situations
• Attend trainings and meetings as required
• Perform all duties within contract, state and federal regulations, company policy, and regulatory agency standards
• May be required to drive vehicles, be insurable with our auto insurance provider, and complete company vehicle training
• Other duties may be assigned as necessary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or in a related field required
• Master’s degree, at least 3 years of experience in special education including experience with state assessments, and 1 year of supervisory experience preferred
• Must be eligible for and must obtain a valid Maryland State Department of Education Teaching License within 60 days of hire
