About the role

The Iowa Public Employees’ Retirement System helps more than 400,000 Iowans earn and enjoy a guaranteed lifetime retirement benefit by offering strategic, impactful and measurable education programming to members who are working in or have retired from public employment. We are eager to add an Education Program Manager to our Strategy Division who will continue to grow the education strategy to reach members throughout Iowa and at all stages along the journey to retirement and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, create and facilitate useful educational programming using various delivery methods that simplify complex governmental mandates
  • Develop and implement multifaceted communication/marketing plans in support of the education program
  • Use data to understand member needs and to measure the program's strengths and weaknesses
  • Work with colleagues and subject matter experts across IPERS to achieve success

Qualifications

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in any field, and experience equal to three years of full-time work in professional training, teaching, course development, facilitation, or counseling within an educational setting; professional human resources administration including such areas as job analysis, performance appraisal, selection devices, or labor relations; or a technical program area utilized by the employing agency
  • Seven years of full-time work experience in professional training, teaching, course development, facilitation, or counseling within an educational setting; professional human resources administration including such areas as job analysis, performance appraisal, selection devices, or labor relations; or a technical program area utilized by the employing agency
  • All of the following (a and b):
    • a. Three years of full-time work experience in professional training, teaching, course development, facilitation, or counseling within an educational setting; professional human resources administration including such areas as job analysis, performance appraisal, selection devices, or labor relations; or a technical program area utilized by the employing agency
    • b. A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in part a), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six years of full-time work as described in number two
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes eighteen months of full-time work as a Training Specialist 1

Schedule

Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday; some nights and weekends, occasional in-state and out-of-state travel.
