Education Program Manager

Position Summary

The Education Programs Manager will support the work of International House by supervising the implementation and day-to-day operations of Education Programs for our community’s English Language Learners. This role is vital to the success of Rising Readers, our summer literacy program for immigrant children (K-5 grade), and Rising Up, our afterschool tutoring program and is responsible for the management of our Adult Education Programs, including Adult ESL Classes at IH and in the community, English Conversation Hours, and the Citizen Preparation Program.

Essential Skills

• Supervise the day-to-day operations of Youth Programming (Rising Up – RU and Rising Readers – RR) as well as Adult English Language Acquisition programming, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all.
• Hire, train, and support paid and volunteer instructional program staff, including role specific training and routine observation as needed.
• Oversee curriculum development/modification as needed by learners in our programs.
• Support Director of Program Services with collecting attendance data for students, staff (for payroll) and volunteers. Maintain accurate records of program data in Apricot (software) to support grant reporting;
• Assist with annual budgeting for all programs.
• Manage enrollment process and pre- and post-testing for all enrolled students, including strategic planning for increasing enrollment and retaining students.
• Maintain and promote key partnerships including but not limited to CMS LLA (Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools Learning & Language Acquisition) Department, Read Charlotte, Promising Pages, Classroom Central, Charlotte Mecklenburg Libraries, CMS Rising Readers/Rising Up school sites.
• Support Marketing Department with outreach and fundraising initiatives to fund all English Language Acquisition programming.
• Aid the Director of Program Services in the strategic planning and implementation of growth initiatives and program improvements.
• Represent IH’s Education Department at community events and resource fairs as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Bachelor’s degree in Education (Youth or Adult), English, TESOL or related field, Master’s degree preferred
• Classroom teaching experience
• Thorough knowledge of CMS structure
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• Independent, responsible, and self-motivated
• Comfortable public speaking and giving presentations
• Culturally sensitive, with experience working with diverse populations
• International experience preferred
• Computer proficiency required (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Bonterra Apricot CRM)
• Bilingual or Multilingual skills preferred

• Must be able to:
• Stand or walk for the majority of a workday, including working on uneven surfaces.
• Apply physical mobility, including reaching, lifting, holding, pushing and pulling, carrying, bending, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, arm and leg extension.

Pay

$47,000.00 - $49,000.00 per year
