At Alpha, students advance academically through adaptive technology while Guides provide coaching, accountability, motivation, and life skills development. As a Lead Guide, you will assemble and develop the team that executes this model—mentoring Guides, cultivating leaders, and establishing an environment where students routinely surpass expectations. This role centers on building a culture of excellence through Guide coaching, facilitating impactful life skills workshops, and inspiring students to pursue ambitious goals.

This position is available at select Alpha campuses: Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Miami, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Boston, MA; Raleigh, NC; New York City, NY; Orange County, CA; and Santa Barbara, CA. Relocation support is available for candidates open to moving to one of these markets.

About the role

Alpha is constructing the world's premier K-12 experience, demanding leaders who elevate team performance, make evidence-based decisions, and champion innovative approaches. Performance will be assessed based on the quality of the student experience, your team's outcomes, and your capacity to uphold rigorous standards while motivating others to reach them.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor Guides to reliably deliver outstanding student experiences while upholding Alpha's rigorous standards.
  • Facilitate dynamic life skills workshops that cultivate communication, leadership, focus, and other essential real-world competencies for K-12 students.
  • Inspire students to pursue ambitious learning objectives and maximize their progress in self-directed academic programs.
  • Leverage data, observation, and coaching dialogues to enhance Guide effectiveness and student results.
  • Support the launch and establishment of new Alpha campuses by fostering a culture grounded in excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Guarantee that every student consistently receives Alpha's three promises by developing high-performing Guides, facilitating compelling life skills experiences, and upholding rigorous standards for student achievement.

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering traditional academic instruction or subject-specific lectures.
  • Developing lesson plans or designing curriculum materials.
  • Compromising standards to create an illusion of success rather than facilitating genuine mastery.
  • Leading a team remotely from an office without direct, regular coaching engagement with students and Guides.
  • Defending outdated methods simply because they represent established practice.

Requirements

  • Willingness to work on-site at an Alpha campus (locations listed above).
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in education, coaching, learning and development, or a related leadership capacity.
  • Proven experience leading and developing teams of five or more individuals, including responsibility for hiring and performance-based termination decisions.
  • Verified success leveraging data to drive performance enhancements.
  • Experience working with children ages 5-14 in an educational, coaching, or developmental context.
  • Experience establishing or launching a new team, program, business, school, or initiative, with readiness to help open a new campus from inception.
  • Willingness to operate in a school model that rejects traditional lecture-based pedagogy.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Nice-to-have Qualifications

  • Experience coaching youth through athletics, debate, camps, or extracurricular activities.
  • Outstanding public speaking and storytelling abilities.
  • A proven record of attaining high levels of academic, professional, or athletic achievement.
  • Experience driving teams toward ambitious objectives while sustaining high accountability.
  • A commitment to challenging traditional education and contributing to a new model for K-12 learning.
