Education Coordinator
About the role
This position serves as the Education Coordinator within the Agency Service Division of the Indiana Department of Insurance (IDOI).
The role involves maintaining policies and procedures for insurance pre-licensing education and continuing education (CE) course provider applications, preparing and administering monthly IDOI Education Advisory Council meetings, issuing course renewal invoices and approval/denial letters, and communicating with insurance education providers regarding rules, policies, and procedures.
The position also conducts CE audits for resident insurance agents and adjusters who are not in compliance with Indiana CE rules, processes and approves CE credit hours for various license types, coordinates clerical and administrative functions, and coordinates with system vendor Sircon to troubleshoot system errors and implement improvements.
Responsibilities
- Maintain policies and procedures for insurance pre-licensing education and CE course provider applications.
- Prepare and administer monthly IDOI Education Advisory Council meetings.
- Issue course renewal invoices and approval/denial letters.
- Communicate with insurance education providers regarding rules, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct CE audits for resident insurance agents and adjusters not in compliance with Indiana CE rules.
- Process and approve CE credit hours for various license types.
- Coordinate clerical and administrative functions.
- Coordinate with system vendor Sircon to troubleshoot system errors and implement improvements.
Requirements
Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:
- General knowledge of office administrative functions, theories, and principles.
- Working knowledge of research techniques and report composition.
- Working knowledge of functions of other departments and agencies and their impact on the department.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and proofreading skills.
- Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and multitask.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to analyze procedures and policies and write procedural manuals to recommend improvements.
- Ability to coordinate the work of the section staff.
- Ability to maintain cooperative work relationships.
A degree is not required. However, a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) and at least 3 years of experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.
