About the Role

Serves as a role model, consultant, charge agent, teacher, and facilitator in assessing learning needs and planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating educational activities for staff and the community. Responsible for developing and administering evidence- and theory-based clinical staff development programs to improve patient care by increasing the competence of all personnel involved in delivering patient services.

Administers and tracks in-house online courses for all staff members, assists in policy coordination and management of hospital policies, and provides clinical support as a resource for directors, nurse managers, clinical leaders, and staff to maintain competencies and improve skills.

Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and gather, analyze, and assess data from various sources.

Responsibilities

  • Assess learning needs and plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and evaluate educational activities for staff and community.
  • Develop and administer evidence- and theory-based clinical staff development programs to improve patient care.
  • Administer and track in-house online courses for all staff members.
  • Assist in policy coordination and management of hospital policies.
  • Provide clinical support and serve as a resource for directors, nurse managers, clinical leaders, and staff.
  • Gather, analyze, and assess data from various sources to inform educational programs.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing; BSN preferred.
  • Five years of clinical experience specific to assigned clinical areas.
  • Experience in nurse-peer training.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Louisiana.
  • Certification in BLS Provider required; BLS instructor status within 12 months of hire.
  • ACLS instructor status required within 18 months of hire date.
  • PALS and/or NRP provider status within 2 years; instructor status within 3 years of employment as directed by CNO.
  • Minimal travel required.

  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Self-directed and self-motivated.
  • Flexible with hours to meet timely educational needs.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Adaptable to change and welcomes new approaches when circumstances demand it.
