Education Coordinator

About the role

The Education Coordinator at Black Mountain Home for Children, Youth & Families supports academic progress, school readiness, and educational advocacy for children and youth in care. This role works closely with youth, House Parents, Residential Services, school personnel, volunteers, and interns.

Responsibilities

• Supports academic progress and school readiness for children and youth in care
• Collaborates with House Parents and Residential Services to address academic needs, school trips, testing, summer school, and higher learning preparation
• Serves as the primary liaison with the school system, representing Black Mountain Home in school-related meetings
• Manages educational programs and resources
• Works collaboratively with youth, staff, schools, volunteers, interns, and community professionals

Requirements

• Personal commitment to the mission, values, and Christian ministry of Black Mountain Home
• Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, tutoring, academic support, and educational advocacy skills
• Experience working with children with special educational needs
• Ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential information professionally
• Experience working with children and youth in an educational, residential, nonprofit, or ministry setting is preferred
