Position Summary
Responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating the Care Manager education for all end users of the system. Prepares, directs, schedules, and provides education and instruction. Assesses and evaluates the effectiveness of education and instruction aimed at improving patient care documentation. Collaborates with staff and leadership in the development of policies and procedures which reflect appropriate information system utilization. Monitors, develops and revises documentation forms to assure compliance with standards and to improve staff productivity.
Responsibilities
- Actively participate in the Pathways Care Manager: site assessment planning and analysis sessions
- Educate and in-service staff by providing written educational material, direct teaching, and supervising of skills labs
- Develop, and oversee implementation of, overall training plan
- Communicates with end-users to identify support and efficiency needs
- Provides information and direction to managers and directors regarding the execution of tasks and assignments pertaining to the implementation of the HBOC Care Manager computer system
- Provide one-on-one support for staff & physicians related to clinical and computer problems
- Maintain training records of all patient care employees
- Prepare and maintain resource files and materials needed to provide education for staff
- Maintain working knowledge of the clinical HBOC computer system
- Attend meetings as required and participates on committees as directed
- Perform data gathering activities
- Absorb and assist in database building and system maintenance as needed
- Maintain positive, "can-do" attitude, acting as facility champion of the project
- Participate in committees for formulation and standardization of policies and procedures relevant to the health information system (pathways care manager)
- Works effectively with Training & Development to develop end user training schedule and tools
- Execute implementation tasks and activities outlined in the project plan
- Perform application, device and performance testing, and assist in defining interface requirements
- Educate physicians’ one-to-one, acting as liaison for issues, problems, concerns
- Identifies environmental needs for each patient care unit
- Participates in "building" files, tables, output requirements, and regulatory compliance with other team members
- Demonstrates flexibility, based on training needs, project timelines, and installation requirements
- Remains mentally alert and maintains concentration with attention to detail for prolonged periods, at times under stress
- Maintains adaptability, flexibility, initiative, persistence, and efficiency of time management and action
- Does not pose a direct threat to health or safety of self or others
- Provides safe, efficient, competent care to population assigned
- Mets MMC Environment of Care Standards
- Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Completes required education assignments annually
- Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority
- Minimum Experience: Five (5) years clinical nursing experience. At least one (1) year of experience with HBOC Clinical System, PC, and MS-Windows
- Licensure Requirement: Current Tennessee RN license
