Education Assistant

About the role

Perform specialized work by assisting school teachers in instructing and supervising the activities of students to provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist assigned teachers in preparing instructional materials
• Prepare classrooms for activities
• Supervise and assist children in the classroom and in other areas of the school
• Reinforce classroom lessons
• Provide other assistance as requested
• Provide assistance to special needs students (as assigned)
• Coordinate special projects and programs (as assigned)

The position works under direct supervision according to set procedures.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university, OR two (2) years of college (minimum of 48 semester hours) from an, OR a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment Test
• One (1) year of experience working with children in an educational setting (preferred)
• Must possess or be able to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid
• Proof of education, training, and/or experience is required

Education Equivalency

• Bachelor's Degree = 4 years plus required years of experience
• Master's Degree = 6 years plus required years of experience
