Education and Social Skills Trainer (Mathematics)
About the Role
Teach basic math and test-taking to prepare Project participants to successfully pass the General Education Development (HiSET) tests and receive a credential. Help open doors to higher education, better job opportunities, and increased standards of living.
Conduct monthly Best Practices for Social Skills Training and Skill-based Interventions during the monthly Group Training Sessions for Project participants. Guide Project youth in conducting Peer Training for at-risk youth at a Community Service Project Site. Conduct pre-tests and test-taking to prepare Project participants to successfully pass Social/Life Skills tests.
The Education/Social Skills Trainer will provide literacy, education, skill-based, relationship-building, leadership development, and service-learning opportunities for youth Project participants. Develop a strategy to provide appropriate educational opportunities in partnership with local educational institutions.
Responsibilities
- Teach basic math and test-taking strategies for HiSET preparation.
- Conduct monthly Best Practices for Social Skills Training and Skill-based Interventions.
- Guide Project youth in Peer Training for at-risk youth at a Community Service Project Site.
- Prepare participants for Social/Life Skills tests through pre-tests and test-taking exercises.
- Provide literacy, education, skill-based, relationship-building, leadership development, and service-learning opportunities.
- Develop strategies for educational partnerships with local institutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
- Current valid Louisiana Teaching Credential.
- Valid Louisiana Driver’s License at time of appointment.
- 3 to 5 years of teaching experience at the Elementary, High School, or College level.
