About the Role

Teach basic reading, language, and writing skills and test-taking to prepare Project participants to successfully pass the tests of General Education Development (HiSET) and receive a Credential. Help open the doors to higher education, better job opportunities, and increased standards of living.

Conduct monthly Best Practices for Social Skills Training and Skill-based Interventions during the monthly Group Training Sessions for Project participants. Guide Project youth in conducting Peer Training for at-risk youth at a Community Service Project Site. Conduct pre-tests and test-taking to prepare Project participants to successfully pass the tests of Social/Life Skills.

The Education/Social Skills Trainer shall provide literacy, education, skill-based, relationship building, leadership development, and service-learning opportunities for youth Project participants and develop a strategy to provide appropriate educational opportunities in partnership with local educational institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Teach basic reading, language, and writing skills to prepare participants for HiSET tests.
  • Conduct monthly Best Practices for Social Skills Training and Skill-based Interventions.
  • Guide Project youth in Peer Training for at-risk youth at a Community Service Project Site.
  • Administer pre-tests and test-taking preparation for Social/Life Skills assessments.
  • Develop and implement literacy, education, skill-based, relationship-building, leadership, and service-learning opportunities.
  • Create strategies for educational partnerships with local institutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
  • Current valid Louisiana Teaching Credential.
  • Valid Louisiana Driver's License at time of appointment.
  • 3 to 5 years of teaching experience at the Elementary, High School, or College level.
