About the role
This full-time Program Specialist I position in the Department of Public Works, Bureau of Utility Operations manages several different programs for the Bureau, including school-based and community-based educational programs, outreach events planning and participation, career fairs, and training.
Responsibilities
- Develop written and electronic outreach materials, conduct presentations, and promote careers in Utility Operations.
- Coordinate and manage special projects, develop training courses, and provide classroom instruction.
- Produce content for websites, social media pages, and internal newsletters; manage social media accounts and determine innovative ways to reach the public.
- Proactively communicate with citizens using various methods and track the success of outreach efforts with regular reporting.
- Attend internal and public meetings and events during and after normal business hours, representing the Bureau of Utility Operations.
- Prepare and maintain necessary records and reports, contact vendors on price and parts availability, and track and prepare monthly purchasing statements.
- Work closely with internal teams to align outreach efforts with organizational goals and objectives.
- Gather information, conduct internal interviews, take pictures, and select graphics for outreach materials.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
- One (1) or more years of experience in a program/specialization area directly related to public relations, educational outreach, and training.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a positive and collaborative attitude.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Attend public meetings and events after working hours and on weekends as required.

- Experience supporting educational outreach programs.
- Experience supporting workforce development training programs.
