About the role

This full-time Program Specialist I position in the Department of Public Works, Bureau of Utility Operations manages several programs for the Bureau, including school-based and community-based educational programs, outreach events planning and participation, career fairs, and training.

Responsibilities

  • Develop written and electronic outreach materials, conduct presentations, and promote careers in Utility Operations.
  • Coordinate and manage special projects, develop training courses, and provide classroom instruction.
  • Develop presentations and outreach materials for various audiences, including conducting internal interviews, gathering information, taking pictures, and selecting graphics.
  • Produce content for websites, social media pages, and internal newsletters.
  • Manage social media accounts and determine innovative ways to reach the public.
  • Proactively communicate with citizens using various methods.
  • Track the success of outreach efforts and report regularly.
  • Attend internal and public meetings and events during and after normal business hours, representing the Bureau of Utility Operations.
  • Prepare and maintain necessary records and reports, contact vendors on price and parts availability, and track and prepare monthly purchasing statements.
  • Work closely with internal teams to align outreach efforts with organizational goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • One or more years of experience in a program/specialization area directly related to public relations, educational outreach, and training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting educational outreach programs.
  • Experience supporting workforce development training programs.

Skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a positive and collaborative attitude.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Schedule

This position requires attending public meetings and events after working hours and on weekends.
