About the Role
This is a full school-year position that requires participation in after-school activities. The School Nurse Department Chair K-12 serves as a communication liaison between faculty and administration, ensuring alignment with the school's mission and goals.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison between faculty and administration to foster mutual understanding of complex issues.
- Participate in open dialogue with department members, other department chairs, and administrators to align goals with the school’s mission.
- Lead curriculum, pedagogy, and revisions within the nursing department, ensuring rigor and innovation.
- Guide conversations about teaching and learning to promote best practices.
- Propose new ideas and initiatives for administrative approval.
- Participate in job interviews for departmental positions.
- Support new teachers within the department or profession.
- Advocate for the nursing department while supporting the broader school mission and culture of open discussion.
- Facilitate department meetings that encourage participation and meaningful conversation.
- Collaborate on the SHAARS report.
- Ensure systems are in place for immunizations and medication management.
- Support building nurses with 504 plan writing, medical questions, and concerns.
- Implement and oversee practices and procedures for all district nurses.
