Editorial Intern, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers

Program dates: September 13, 2026 – December 11, 2026

Location: Hybrid (2–3 days per week on-site in our New York office, M–Th; remaining 1–2 days remote). A company laptop will be provided for the duration of the program.

Schedule

  • 28 hours per week, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, with a one-hour lunch break

Pay

  • $17.00/hour

About the role

You will work closely with seasoned editors, own day-to-day tasks, assist with special projects, and attend departmental meetings. Educational sessions featuring speakers from across the company and networking/career-development opportunities are also offered.

Responsibilities

  • Research industry and market trends to build a resource database and documents for the editorial team, gaining a strong understanding of the children’s, YA, and New Adult book markets
  • Log, review, provide feedback on, draft replies to, and discuss manuscript submissions
  • Draft feedback to inform editorial letters
  • Attend weekly editorial meetings to learn about and discuss the market, projects, and opportunities
  • Draft additional written materials such as copy and correspondence
  • Perform general administrative duties as requested

Qualifications

  • Self-starter with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Enthusiastic about discussing recent books you’ve read, with a particular interest in Young Adult and New Adult/romance novels
  • Great attitude, desire to learn, and excellent organizational and research skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and contribute insights
  • Resourceful with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities and work independently
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
