Marketing$100/hrInternship

Founded in Silicon Valley in 2009 by Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, Andreessen Horowitz (aka a16z) is a venture capital firm that backs bold entrepreneurs building the future through technology. We are stage agnostic, investing in seed to venture to growth-stage technology companies across AI, bio + healthcare, consumer, crypto, enterprise, fintech, games, and companies building toward American dynamism. a16z has $100B+ under management across multiple funds and is defined by respect for the entrepreneur and the company-building process.

a16z crypto aims to foster innovation, accelerate progress, and grow the crypto ecosystem to thrive in the U.S. — bringing the best of blockchains, crypto, and decentralization to the world. The team supports the crypto portfolio through engineering, security, go-to-market, regulatory, legal, research, talent, recruiting, and marketing — including an editorial content operation that pioneers a "direct media" model. This model has produced influential podcasts, written articles, newsletters (Substack), videos (YouTube), and more, led by editors from traditional media and in-house content marketing.

About the role

This is a part-time, remote internship focused on multimedia and social media editorial work, with broader editorial project involvement. You will:

  • Assist with the production of editorial content, especially multimedia, including creating and producing short-form video clips for YouTube and social media (e.g., identifying, time-stamping, and editing compelling clips, designing YouTube thumbnails, and writing social copy).
  • Help expand and refine the clipping operation, strategically defining and improving its approach.
  • Produce, overhaul, and update podcast shownotes; clean up, segment by topic, and time-stamp transcripts; and perform occasional research and preparation for episodes.
  • Edit content as needed, such as transforming partner interview transcripts into posts, repackaging existing content, or writing and editing new posts.
  • Update past content archives for site metadata (e.g., tagging taxonomy) and perform other content maintenance tasks.
  • Help produce special series and projects, from data reports to op-eds and other media packages.
  • Assist with basic or other editorial design (collaborating with designers) as needed.

Requirements

To join our team, you should be excited to:

  • Be obsessed with YouTube, podcasts, Substack newsletters, industry reports, and all kinds of media — analyzing what works, what doesn’t, and why, with strong opinions on editorial content, strategies, and processes.
  • Execute, not just theorize — we value doers over talkers.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced team and maintain focus in a noisy industry environment.
  • Be professional, discreet, and team-first — prioritizing the success of our experts and companies over self-promotion.
  • Work independently while also taking direction from multiple stakeholders.
  • Multitask, meet deadlines, and demonstrate quality and attention to detail.
  • Handle internal information with ethics, discretion, and confidentiality, including compliance-sensitive content in regulated industries.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with past experience in media, publishing, or social media (e.g., personal projects, building profiles).
  • Strong interest in technology, science, or computer science — or a specific passion project where you’ve gone deep.
  • Familiarity with crypto is helpful but not required.
  • Technical experience with multimedia editing tools is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience in a media environment is preferred but not required. Show us your work through a portfolio of samples (e.g., written pieces, produced clips, or other contributions).
  • Highly productive with strong organizational or analytical skills.
  • Low ego, high empathy, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.

Pay

The anticipated hourly rate for this role is $35/hr. Actual starting pay may vary based on experience, skills, and scope.
