Editor - MO Revisor of Statutes

About the role

The Committee on Legislative Research is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Editor – Missouri Revisor of Statutes to join our team. This position plays a key role in reviewing, editing, and preparing legislative materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, and compliance with statutory requirements. The editor assists the Revisor and Assistant Revisor in styling and publishing the Revised Statutes of Missouri, including reading, proofreading, and styling legislation for inclusion in the Revised Statutes as well as the Missouri Session Laws.

Responsibilities

• Review, edit, and prepare legislative materials for accuracy, clarity, consistency, and statutory compliance.
• Assist the Revisor and Assistant Revisor in styling and publishing the Revised Statutes of Missouri.
• Read, proofread, and style legislation for inclusion in the Revised Statutes and Missouri Session Laws.
• Assume some clerical functions.
• Assume some programming or web design duties.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field or commensurate experience in publishing.
• Fluency in Microsoft Word.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous professional experience in newspaper, book, or magazine publishing, in computer programming or web design, or in a legal or governmental office.
• Knowledge of APA, Bluebook, or other academic styling and citation rules.
• Fluency in all Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with Word Perfect.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $48,000 - $52,000 annually.
