About the role
Provide legal interpretation in the form of research, analysis, and writing to support the development and maintenance of Thomson Reuters Legal information in all media.
Responsibilities
- Legal Research, Analysis and Writing: Create and classify legal information in the form of headnotes, highlights, and other features and enhancements. Identify key legal issues in editorial materials while demonstrating competence in Westlaw navigation and online research tools.
- Editorial Responsibility: Adhere to editorial publishing schedules and quality standards. Verify work for accuracy and completeness and ensure information is properly presented and organized.
- Maintain and develop legal knowledge and skills training as needed to complete work and stay current on legal trends and developments.
- Attend and participate in meetings and take part in the employee evaluation process (both wider feedback and self-evaluation).
- Develop knowledge of Thomson Reuters Legal publications and products related to responsibilities and those of competitors.
- Prioritize work and understand roles and responsibilities of collaborators/team members.
- Demonstrate competence on company-specific systems necessary to perform job functions.
- Cases Editorial: Read and analyze court decisions, create and classify short summaries of each point of law for Westlaw and print. Maintain world-class judicial content.
Requirements
J.D. degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school
Self-starter with aptitude for legal research and writing
Analytical thinker who uses logic and collaborates to solve difficult problems
Decisive with a focus on making quality decisions quickly
Comfortable with personal computers and familiar with word processing and online applications
Can prioritize tasks and projects and pursue them with energy and drive
Great teammate who works successfully in a shared environment
Strong communicator who can speak and write clearly and effectively with all contacts, both in and outside Thomson Reuters.
