Responsibilities

• Lead the editorial direction of the publication, focusing on reader engagement and growth
• Use data-driven insights to inform decision-making and drive strategy
• Experiment with new content formats and technologies to enhance reader experience
• Develop and manage a high-performing team of journalists and editors
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure comprehensive coverage of the community
• Manage performance and provide feedback to staff
• Ensure the publication remains relevant and impactful in a rapidly changing media landscape

Requirements

• At least five years of experience as a successful leader of a newsroom or large team
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• The proven ability to lead, inspire, and convey knowledge to others
• Comfort with a demanding, fast-paced, and constantly evolving environment
• Experience working collaboratively across a large organization
• A focus on representing the fullness of the community and state through diverse content
• Experience with analytics to grow audience and increase subscriptions
• Passion for multi-platform storytelling, with a strong background in written journalism
• Ability to solve problems, innovate, and adapt in service of producing quality journalism
• Excellent interpersonal skills and computer proficiency
• Able to work a flexible schedule that may include nights and weekends
• Able to work remotely while contributing to a team environment
