About the role

This full-time, 37.5 hours per week position at the Forest Lake Times offers the opportunity to make a difference covering business, breaking news, in-depth feature stories, local government, community education, photography and layout. We are looking for someone who understands community journalism and is eager to share interesting stories.

Responsibilities

• Report on local news
• Cover local government
• Write compelling feature stories
• Take photos and help with layout
• Multi-task
• Cover business, breaking news, and in-depth feature stories

Requirements and Skills

• Prior reporting and editing experience
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Proficiency with Adobe InDesign (preferred)
• Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop (helpful)
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field
• Ability to multi-task
